MAF-Test®. Information for breast cancer patients
What is MAF-Test®:
MAF-Test® is a laboratory analysis that your pathologist performs to characterize your tumor and to establish the risk of progression of your disease.
MAF-Test® measures the amplification of the MAF gene in your tumor. MAF amplification occurs in 20% of breast cancer tumors and it is associated with a higher risk of progression of the disease.
Why is it important to characterize MAF amplification in your breast cancer tumor:
MAF gene amplification (MAF positive) in the tumor is associated with a higher risk of disease relapse.
Your doctor will use the result of MAF-Test®, together with other clinical and pathological data of your tumor to determine the best therapy for your disease.
